24 x 24 acrylic on 1.5” Deep canvas.
Inspired by my husband's Uncle, Dow Wagner’s magnolia tree that blooms stunningly for only a few days. I've been wanting to paint this flower for years because I always feel devastated when these gorgeous blooms get destroyed by the wind. Capturing this beauty on canvas is my way making it “last forever”.
24 x 36 Acrylic on canvas.
Inspired by the masterpieces God creates over Grand Lake. I was told by one of the sailors at St Marys Boat Club that Grand Lake is one of the best lakes to sail on because there's almost always wind, which makes “Evening Sailing” an exciting adventure!
10x20 Acrylic on 1.5” Gallery wrapped canvas. Inspired by God's amazing sunsets on Grand Lake.

Today was a day of victories and I have to give God the thanks for answering my prayers for courage to finish some of my paintings that I got stuck on many months ago. Painting and creativity is a crazy journey of ups and downs. I know that anything good that comes from my hands is a gift from God!

This painting portrays a special moment for this precious family. They are taking their son on his first trip to the beach. Their son was 17 months old and it was his first time to go anywhere, except to the doctors. He was born with congenial heart disease, CHD, and he's had multiple surgeries throughout his young life. The mom was telling me how she feels that God has blessed them with the "privilege" of caring for their little boy through all the difficulties of this incurable disease. CHD affects 1 in 100 babies.
As I was praying about a title for this painting I realized that Only God can put our hearts at rest in His presence, by trusting in Jesus.
"Hearts at Rest in His Presence" 1 John 3:19

Number 6 in my “Elijah Broom Tree” series.
Inspired by the beautiful story in I Kings 19:3-9, where God lovingly and miraculously provides for all of Elijah‘s needs. Elijah had done so many great things for God. Now he is despairing of life so much that he prays to die! But God provides a broom tree to lie down under and some much-needed rest. Then an angel wakes him up and provides fresh baked bread and a jar of water. After Elijah eats, he sleeps some more and the angel wakes him up again encouraging him to “eat because the journey is too much for you”. With the nourishment that God provides, Elijah travels 40 days and 40 nights until he reaches the mountain of God.
I love the symbolism and the way we can experience God’s loving care and renewal as we trust in Jesus. He is the bread of life and the living water and Jesus promises “come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. Only Jesus can satisfy all the longings of the human heart. As I seek Him every day He gives me the strength and provides everything I need to face every challenge!
Thank you Jesus!
24 x 36 acrylic on 1.5” deep gallery wrapped canvas. This award winning painting was inspired by the amazing sunrises and sunsets God creates on Grand Lake St. Marys. I love playing around with abstraction, because it invites our imaginations.

I am fascinated by the way God designed eagles to have such a fierce mating ritual. I love capturing their moment with brush & pallet knife. Inspired by Grand Lake Eagles and the photography of my friend Dave Shaner.

36 x 36 Acrylic on 1.5" gallery wrapped canvas. Inspired by a beautiful farm down the road from my studio. I've been photographing this farm for over 12 years and I've painted my favorite barn on this farm twice. But recently I was contacted by the husband of a couple who had their wedding photos taken at this farm. He wanted to surprise his bride with a one of a kind painting of this farm, since he took a job and relocated her away from "home". This is the first finished painting. I'm still working on two other compositions that capture even more of this gorgeous farm and and its unique barns.
Private collection of Lynn and Mary Fell.
30 x 40 acrylic on canvas.
This is a special commission by Adam Blake as a surprise for his lovely wife, Rachel. Adam contacted me about six months ago to create a memorable painting that captured the beauty of this family farm. The farm has been in Rachel's family quite a few generations and is super special because they also had their wedding photos taken there. I was extremely excited about this commission because I've been photographing this farm for many years. I especially fell in love with the little barn on this curvy road and have been documenting it all seasons, and various times of day. This painting actually encompasses 3 of their family farms, including Rachel's parents, Lynn and Mary Fell and her grandparents farms on the far right at the end of the soybean field.
12x16 acrylic on canvas. This painting captures all the fun this family enjoys on their farm. If you look carefully, and you'll also see a kayak and a campfire that they enjoy with friends along with their motorsports vehicles. This was specially commissioned as a surprise for Christmas.
36x36 on 1.5” deep galley wrapped canvas.

This is number #2 in my "Dancing on the Beach" series. Inspired by my friend Esther, who choreographed this dance in response to The Creator of the universe. Esther and I became friends about eight years ago and I asked her if I could paint one of her professional dances she had recorded, but she said she wanted to create something new. So we met at the beach at Fort Loramie back in June and Esther performed this amazing dance with some incredible leaps off of a loose sandy surface.

Yesterday the sun came out after the stormy weather and it reminded me how beautiful it is to weather the storms of life with fellow "sailors" and then get back out on the water to enjoy life together. So much of life involves encouraging each other through the rough times by caring and listening and seeing the "good" in people and helping them focus on all the blessings God has given us to enjoy.
68x36 Acrylic on canvas.
I love painting on a large scale because it feels like you're really there! This is my largest painting so far! I had to special order this size canvas. Inspired by the amazing sunsets God creates over water.

A Plein air painting adventure on North Shore of Grand Lake. Created with heavy application of paint using palette knife and brush. It started out very sunny that morning. But I loved how God transformed the sky into a gorgeous moody atmosphere with the sun bouncing off the storm clouds and reflecting on the water! I was able to finish this painting right before it started raining!
18 x 36 acrylic on canvas.
Another one of God's fascinating creatures. Inspired by my visit to the flamingo display at the Toledo zoo! I started this painting almost 2 years ago and got stuck and with much prayer, God gave me the courage to finish it! The lady who purchased "Flamingo Dance" was a serious tap, jazz and ballet dancer in her earlier days. And she is a good friend that I first met when I worked at Curves in St. Mary's. Cheryl has been encouraging me on my painting journey since I first started over eight years ago. She would always tell me how much she enjoyed my Blue Heron paintings, but if I ever painted a pink flamingo to let her know because she's a huge fan of pink flamingos! So when I got the inspiration at the Toledo zoo to paint "Flamingo Dance", Cheryl , is the first person I thought of so it is very fitting that she is now the proud owner of this one of a kind painting!

I love watching the Eagles at Grand Lake because they are a daily reminder that our freedom was costly. And I'm very thankful for those served and those who sacrificed everything for our freedom. Including my husband who served in the army over 11 years.
18 x24 Acrylic on 1.5” gallery wrapped canvas.
Thank you everyone who gave me insight for the title!
"Protector of Life" is the title of that hit me the morning after finishing. It feels right because the adult Eagle is protecting life that is precious! Last night I was still pondering a title. I was thinking about "New Life"…
I'm imagining the Eagles nest with a view of Celina's skyline viewed from Harbor Point. From that vantage point, you can see Immaculate Conception's dome, and possibly even the Mercer Courthouse from the height of the Eagles nest. This painting will be on display at Brew Nation (March 5-April) along with many other beautiful, works of art created by talented local artist for the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Mercer County Courthouse.
"24x36 I love watching the Eagles and their nests around Grand Lake. This adult Eagle is inspired by Ken Bigham's February 2022 photo of Gods's amazing creation! Photo reference used by permission from the Photographer.

Number 13 in my “Eagle Series”.
I love watching the Eagles and last weekend my sisters and I visited the Hueston Woods State Park eagle that had been rescued. I'm thankful that he was rescued, but I kept staring into his eyes thinking about how God created him to be wild and free. So this painting is in honor of his wild spirit!!!

16 x 20 Acrylic on canvas. no. 8 in my dance series. Playing with colors and bold brushstrokes to express movement of the dancers. My series is inspired by the Beautiful design God made for marriage…bringing one man and one woman together as one, as a lifelong commitment to reflect Jesus's commitment to never leave us or forsake us. I love watching newlyweds dance because their love for each other is so obvious! I love thinking of my love relationship with Jesus as a “dance” where He desires for me to let Him lead and then the dance becomes so beautiful! But so often I resist and try to do it my own way. But when I surrender my will and allow Jesus to lead me… He transforms me and makes my joy complete!

Simon is our next door neighbor’s chicken. I feel super blessed to have 7 beautiful chickens living right next door! They got their first chickens about two years ago and invited me to come over any time to enjoy and photograph their chickens, and they even give us fresh eggs! He is an amazing rooster because he's very protective of his hens, but he does not go into “attack mode” when his owners go in the pen. Interestingly Simon has a broken cock-a-doodle-doo…it sounds very squeaky and gurgling so he's perfect!
10x10 on 1.5” Gallery wrapped canvas.
Inspired by my Daffodils and created with heavy application of paint, using palette knife and brush.
36x36x 1.5 Acrylic on canvas.
Inspired by my Plein air trip to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I remember standing there on our third floor balcony, in awe of how God continued to transform the water and the sky as the fall foliage peaked through the mist and randomly reflected on the water. And the sky suddenly parted to allow the mountains to peek through. It was as if God was painting, an awesomely unbelievable abstract as I watched!
This is no. 13 in my "Misty Morning" series.
16 x 20 acrylic on canvas. I was visiting this “Big Fellow” at my friend Stephanie's a couple years ago and captured some great video footage as my inspiration for this painting. I love the way God designed roosters to protect their hens!
16x20 Acrylic on canvas. Inspired by my husband's cousin Bruce's chickens. We visited Bruce's farm back in the spring of 2017 and this week I came across that video footage on my phone. So I replayed the video to capture the movement of these chickens. Created with heavy application of paint using pallet knife and brush.

"Sweet Onion" story
I saw this gorgeous onion as I was getting ready to make chili, but couldn't allow myself to cut it, because I sensed it was going to be the star of my next painting! I got totally distracted from cooking and started playing with its placement on a plate in the sun. I fell in love with the beautiful reflections and rainbows of color! So I took it to my studio.
As I finished the painting it dawned on me that by design, onions draw out an underlying rainbow of flavors in every dish they are found in. With stem ready to be ignited to set off an explosion of flavor, an onion acts like a flavor reflector. Just as it appears to be reflecting more color than what it alone possesses. Sweet! That's the aura of "Sweet Onion"!

Number 2 in my series titled "Seeds of Freedom". Painted in honor of Ukraine's fight for freedom! These are super special sunflowers because I grew them from 3 seeds that were given to me by my Ukrainian friend Dima Melnyk. My husband Jay and I visited Ukraine 3 years ago (2019) to help with a soccer camp sponsored by AIA Athletes in Action. That's where we met Dima and his fiancé Inessa. We saw the beautiful architecture in Kyiv, Ukraine and heard many stories of Ukraine's long fight for freedom against Russian aggression. In January 2020 Dima mailed a box with a packet of Ukrainian sunflower seeds, but somehow it got opened in the mail and only 3 seeds arrived. In April 2020 Dima and Inessa got married during Covid and sadly a few months later Inessa suffered a stroke and was not able to walk. (Through much prayer & therapy Inessa is regaining her abilities!)
That spring I planted those 3 seeds and everyone of them came up! So I saved the seeds and plant them each spring.
In a recent letter Dima said, "Since the beginning of the war we have been able to go on 92 trips to evacuate people and deliver humanitarian goods. Since the full-scale war began, Inessa and I have been learning to live during an unstable time with a lot of uncertainty. We praise Jesus Christ for supporting us and giving us strength to get up and serve."
All proceeds from this painting series go to help Dima & Inessa rebuild and prepare their home for their first child.

12 x 24 Oil on canvas.
30 x 40 oil on canvas
I created this piece entirely with oil pastel and oil paint applied with a pallet knife. Inspired by the beauty of the lines, shapes and textures of local farms during every season. I find it incredibly inspiring to take a drive and just soak up all the beauty I see. I make frequent stops to photograph for future painting references. I think I’m so compelled to capture this beauty because the barns and silos we see today won’t always be here tomorrow.
16 x 20 Acrylic on canvas. Inspired by my visit to Hampshire farms in Mt Vernon last summer. It was fun to watch this colt "Wildman"...because he just wanted to play and he was quite the lover boy with all the little fillies!

I was mesmerized by the elegance of this beautiful horse at Hampshire Farms in Mount Vernon, OH. Inspired by the dramatic movement of this blonde horse's mane. And there were many foals and mares running around, so I captured this pair in the background.

36x36. Acrylic on canvas.
While visiting our son and his family in Mount Vernon, Ohio, I stopped by this horse farm to ask if I could photograph their horses and the owner told me I could come back anytime! I came back several days. I am so amazed by God's design! I loved watching the 4 foals running around chasing each other. But the interaction they had with their mothers' was what captivated me most, so that's what I had to paint!

No. 2 in my “Spring Jazz” series.
Inspired by improv I created on the piano during a rainstorm. I was thinking about God's design for the seemingly invisible transformation that takes place during spring rains when the trees and flower bulbs are lying dormant, just waiting to spring to life. I use bold brush strokes and contrasting values with heavy application of paint to capture the energy of those miraculous moments.
24x36 Acrylic on canvas.
No. 1 in my “Spring Jazz” series.
Excited about this new series I'm starting! Inspired by improv I created on the piano during a rainstorm a few weeks back. I was thinking about how an invisible transformation takes place during spring rains when the trees and my flower bulbs are laying dormant and I wanted to capture the energy of that.

10 x 10 Acrylic on 1.5” gallery wrapped canvas.
Created with heavy application of paint using pallet knife and brush.
I love how God designs a new sunset every evening. Reminds me that His mercies are new every day and every night!
12x16 Acrylic on canvas. I love watching sunsets over Grand Lake! I started this painting in March and I was so excited that the weather was finally perfect to paint outdoors! Painting Plein air is exciting and I love it because there are a lot of challenges to overcome. Sunsets develop fast and change almost instantly, so coming prepared and working fast to capture the raw beauty is essential. Wearing a head light helps since it gets too dark to see my pallet and canvas. And taking many photos helps me finish a piece later in my studio.

Inspired by the Lilies I grow outside my studio. I cut them and bring them in to paint from life. I have an allergy to their pollen, but I love them so much I endure with the windows open until I complete my painting. It's worth it to me because then I can enjoy my flowers forever by painting them!

Created with heavy application of paint using palette knife and brush with lots of warm shades of orange and burnt red contrasted by a background of navy blue and shades of gray. I started this painting last year when my zinnias were in full bloom and the older my zinnia got the more burnt orange it became and I loved how the petals started to get all curvy and began to feel like flames of fire. I kept my zinnia as a dried flower all winter and just finished my painting today! Some things just get better with age!

It was so exciting to see the mountains peeking through the clouds and the autumn colors popping along the tree line and so many incredible reflections in the water as the fog lifted! Created with heavy application of paint using pallet knife and brush. I love how my brushstrokes and loose style leaves a lot to your imagination so it can be wherever you're imagination takes you!

8x10 acrylic on canvas. Inspired by my daffodils and daffodils I borrowed from friends. God has created so many different types of daffodils! And I love to paint them all…so when they're in full bloom I set up a still life and capture their beauty with thick application of paint using a palette knife and brush.

Last spring I stopped over to visit a friend and she turned her horses loose in the pasture so I could videotape them. It was so exciting watching this Stallion run as the afternoon sun reflected off his lush coat. And as always, my goal is to capture the movement of my subject with just the right brushstrokes to capture their energy!

Last year I didn't get to paint my tiny purple irises, so this year I was determined that I was going to capture them on canvas before they died. Yesterday I made a bouquet with a few of my other flowers and started painting. I worked on it into the evening. I liked it, but I didn't love it. So I prayed and asked God to give me wisdom to figure out a path forward with this painting. I believe God wants us to ask Him for wisdom no matter what we're doing. Today I add the daisies and started playing around with the background. I knew I was going to have to make the background darker so that the daisies would stand out. As I was working, I noticed that some of my lighter brushstrokes made it feel like the sun was streaming in from behind and lighting them up. I loved that effect! So I took off capturing that feeling of light! God gets all the glory because apart from Him I can do nothing! Thank you Jesus for empowering me to capture the beauty of Your creation!

Called “Winter Dance” because I love the way the sun dances off the snow and the mystical feel of a snowy morning! Inspired by our drive on a treacherously snowy Sunday morning. This beautiful dairy farm sits on the east side of SR66 as your heading South into New Bremen, OH. I’m so excited because I’ve been photographing this barn for over 3 years wanting to capture it on canvas!

This is a redo of a previous daffodil painting. I wanted to play with shades of gray against the various shades of yellow. I love the contrast between warm and cool and the playful brushstrokes that emphasize the fun of daffodils! Daffodils are just another reflection of God's beauty and amazing variety in His creation!

I love watching the cardinals every morning while we eat breakfast. They especially like the black sunflower seeds...so yesterday I bought a 50 pound bag of them at Spencerville United Equity. Painted mostly with a palette knife.

Capturing the intensity of this air battle between "Shadow" and the "invader Eagle". Shadow and his mate "Jackie" are Eagles I have been sketching and photographing from the bald eagle live camera at Big Bear Valley. They were defending their lovely home/nest containing two eggs. The invader continued to trespass their nest and I was so impressed with their team work!

Inspired by a territorial feud I witnessed between these wild and free mustangs on the Outer Banks, North Carolina. I was in Corolla painting en plein-air when these stallions came running down the beach. It was beautiful…but terrifying, so I jumped in the Jeep to safely watch while my husband captured video footage… which I used when I returned to my studio to paint this beautiful moment!
12x16 Acrylic on canvas.
Painted Plein air at Daytona Beach. I love walking out the door and painting right from the balcony!
16x20 acrylic on canvas. Inspired by a combination of 2 different local farms. I started this painting a few weeks ago when I first saw the round bales in McMichael’s field. It was treacherous because I had sandals on and so I wasn't able to walk around in the field as much as I wanted to. When I went back with boots, they had already put the bales away. So the next week when I saw Fell's farm had round bales I got out there and photographed my references. The barn is located near Fords Garage and the bales were inspired by the Fell's wheat field.

Created Plein air…I was driving to the Grand Lake this morning...wishing I had gotten up earlier...as I watched God painting another amazing sunrise! ... as soon as I got to Pullman Bay restaurant in Celina, Ohio,…I pulled over…set up and started painting! I love painting plein air because I can see so many colors that can't be seen in a photograph. So many subtle colors woven throughout the clouds it was changing fast and amazing!

Last Thursday I got to the lake too late for the eclipse, but I enjoyed the sunrise and watched the blue heron for several hours. I just never get tired of watching them! I especially enjoyed them interacting by the spillway. So I did a bunch of sketches and put together some of their interesting moves.

I finished this painting a couple of weeks ago. But sometimes I have to put a painting away to stop myself... so I don't overwork it. I was thankful that my sister, Brenda stopped by my studio and when she saw the painting she said, "I love it! This was my second year growing poppies in my backyard and I was so excited to have over 30 blooms this year! So one day I felt brave enough to cut them and put them in a vase and just play with color mixtures and brushstrokes.

No.2 in my Poppy series.
I have been anticipating the blooming of the poppies this year. So I called Sandy, my master gardener friend a rcouple weeks ago to ask her if she would let me know when her poppies were blooming. With all the rain and storms this spring I had to be fast to get over there to photograph them before they were blown apart.
Luscious texture created with palette knifes and heavy paint application.

18 x 24 acrylic on canvas. I began this painting en Plein air at the Grand Lake St Marys in October from the west shore. I love watching the pelicans land on the water. They were very active this particular morning. There were continuous groups that took off and then landed to join other pelicans in another area to join what seemed like a “feeding frenzy”. I painted as quickly as I could to capture the sunrise, but couldn't capture all the action I wanted to. So I continued the painting later in my studio as I watched my video footage and used photo references to add the pelicans to my painting and brought more warm sun beams into the sunrise.
16x20 Acrylic on canvas.
I found them growing wildly in a dirt pile left over from when my husband put drainage around our house last summer. A Cardinal or Bluejay must have lost the seed. I loved the beautifully curved stems...so when they began blooming I rescued them and started a photo shoot. Thank you God for such unique beauty!

24x36 Acrylic on canvas. This is #8 in my Blue Heron series. I love these majestic birds! I feel blessed to have captured another one of God's amazing creations on canvas. I first started painting these beautiful creatures from video footage that I captured while sneaking up on them at Grand Lake St. Marys two years ago.
12 x 16 acrylic on canvas.
When I saw these photos of speed boats on Grand Lake with the Celina skyline in the background, I was inspired to create a painting featuring the beautiful domed structure! I originally thought it was the Mercer County Courthouse put discovered it was the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on the horizon! I imagined the beauty of a cardinal perched on a very ordinary branch sticking out of the water's edge. So I contacted the photographer, Randy Shellenbarger, to get his permission. I had a lot of fun with the reflections in the water! I love how God designed water to reflect light and color so abstractly!

A special commission. This patron loved my 1st poppy painting #288 that I created a few years ago inspired by my friend Anna Truax's flowers. I asked this patron if she wanted the wild violets in her painting and she said,”YES!” Violets were her mom's favorite flower! I know that she loves Jesus so I got inspired to suggest a church building on the horizon, inspired by Saint Sebastian's Church, one of the 34 cross-tipped churches near Celina.

Number 1 in my String Music Series.
Specially commissioned by Carol Quinter as a Christmas gift for her very musical son-in-law. I prayed and asked God to help me capture the “joy” of music through my brush strokes. And while I painted I also listened to an audio book by John Pipper, titled “Desiring God”. I loved listening to this book because he quoted a ton of scripture and he talked about how God wants us to find our joy in Him…and how God wants us to enjoy all the things He made and to give God thanks.
When Carol saw the finished painting she said she loved it! And proceeded to tell me that the first thing she saw was “The Mother Mary” …”in gold area on the right side of the neck of the guitar, you will see the eye, eyebrow, and her hair covering flowing down and meets the guitar by the two notes. There is a slight suggestion of her nose by her eye along the strings.” And she also explained, “Mary is symbolic of the heart you see in music.”
Thank You Jesus! Anything amazing that comes from my paint brush is a blessing from God!!! I want to give Him all the glory! Everything was made by Him and for Him and in Him all things hold together!!! Colossians 1:16
Where Jesus is present, there is Joy unexplainable! Only Jesus can give us true joy! “looking only at Jesus, the author and perfecter of the faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, Despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Mary had to TRUST God beyond anything I have experienced! This Christmas season, I've been thinking about how Mary had to keep choosing to put her trust in God so many times through out her life. I think it's very fitting that Mary is considered the heart of music and that you can see her symbolically through my brushstrokes when I had no idea I was even painting her.
If you have taken the time to read this, my prayer for you is that you would choose to trust Jesus with your life. Jesus is “Emmanuel”, God with us. And He is only a prayer away. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” Romans 15:13

Inspired by my husband’s Army career as a cobra helicopter pilot. I was finishing up my BFA, Bachelor of Fine Art degree at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, when I painted this for my senior show. I used a scale model of the AH1H helicopter to accurately draw each helicopter and my imagination to portray them flying in formation over a lake near the Tetons.
48 x 36 Oil on canvas
Inspired by the helicopters flying over the landscapes near Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. We lived there while I was completing my Bachelor of Fine Art degree. I was captivated by the Cobra’s sculptural qualities and asked my husband if he would build me a scale model of the Cobra helicopters he was flying at the time. That was what I used to paint 3 different helicopter paintings and all 3 paintings were on display as a part of my senior show at Austin Peay State University.

Inspired by my friend Esther, who choreographed this dance in response to The Creator of the universe. Esther and I became friends about eight years ago and I asked her if I could paint one of her professional dances she had recorded, but she said wanted to create something new. So we met at the beach at Fort Loramie back in June and Esther performed this amazing dance with some incredible leaps off of a loose sandy surface. This is #1 in my series "Dancing on the Beach"

I had so much fun painting this couple! They gave me a video of their wedding, and it was such a beautifully choreographed dance! They are from Poland and I met them at the Ann Arbor show, so they commissioned a painting of their wedding dance and let me choose whatever pose I thought was most aesthetic. I actually combined about four different poses to come up with the best composition!

Looking into their eyes transports me through time...makes me think about their stories and the legacy of each persons’ life.
I started working on this special commission in January and I’ve learned a lot on this 10 month journey... it was extremely challenging from a technical aspect, taking a 1930’s black-and-white photo and turning it into a color painting. But I got to learn a lot about their stories and the events that shaped their lives. I'm thankful for the way that God can take hard times and use it for our good to shape our lives in such beautifully unexpected ways.

No. 1 in my Egypt Series. Inspired by Cory Asbury's song titled “Egypt” taken from the book of Exodus where God parts the Red Sea. Moses leads the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, but they have to trust God and go through the Red Sea to gain freedom. It's such a picture of how God desires us to trust Him no matter what we are going through. God Himself wants to be our FREEDOM. Jesus bought my freedom when He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for my sin. When Jesus said “It is finished!” The veil of the temple was torn in two signifying that God the Father had received Jesus's sacrifice and opened the way to freedom and forgiveness through trusting Jesus.

Inspired by the freedom that Jesus alone can give! This is the first painting that I’ve ever etched a word into!
Praising God that I got to create this painting today inspired by live worship at a fundraiser for WORSHIP ANYWAY! I wasn't sure what I was going to paint, but I asked Jesus to give me what He wanted me to paint and "freedom" and "Yahweh" kept going through my mind. So this painting is the 4th in my "Egypt Series" inspired by God, "Yahweh" who miraculously leads the Israelites to freedom by parting the Red Sea and leading them with a pillar of fire. The red is symbolic of Jesus and His blood. Trusting in Jesus is the only way to find freedom from all the things that enslave us in this life. Jesus is Yahweh! Jesus is “The Word” made flesh!

Then after 6 months of correspondence, invited me to their condo in Naples to see the space this painting will hang. It was exciting to get to spend two mornings painting on one of their favorite beaches and they even carried my easel and all my painting supplies to the beach! Mary was great at fielding questions from other beach lovers so I could focus on painting. This beachfront is special to Fred because he routinely performs a 1.5-2 mile swim along the coastline where he often sees dolphins and manatees when the water is clear. And Mary loves walking this beach. They enjoyed watching me create their painting as they witnessed my pallet knife and brush capture the movement and tranquility of "Early Morning on Pelican Bay".

Inspired by God's amazing Autumn transformation! In October we took a painting trip to New Hampshire to enjoy the peak fall colors before they peaked in Ohio. One morning the mist lifted over the lake and fall colors popped through the fog to inspire my misty morning series.

Inspired by the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. One of the first things I do when I get up is look out the window and see what God is creating in the sky. I never get tired of sunrises or sunsets. I love the way God creates a beautifully unique sunrise every day. It reminds me that His Mercies are new every morning!

I love how the slightly thawing lake reflected the beautiful pallet of colors in the sunset and how the ducks and geese were silhouetted on the ice. We are so blessed to have so much beauty displayed every day on Grand Lake! And thank you to Kevin Olding and all of our wonderful photographers who use their talents to capture and share it with us daily! You are all such an inspiration!

Created Plein air in Naples. As I started painting this, I asked God to give me a unique way to see His amazing palm trees. I remembered earlier that day how, Trish, my daughter's mother-in-law mentioned that she loves just looking up at the palm trees. So “looking up” was my inspiration!

Inspired by the gorgeous sunsets over the Grand Lake near St. Marys boat club…a short drive from my studio.
12 x 16 acrylic on canvas
I started this painting plein air in April 2016. But I was getting tired standing in the sun, so I didn't quite finish it. I thought I would finish it someday...but that's the struggle I often face... so many beautiful things to paint! ...but not enough time to paint everything!
In October 2020, I was contacted by the wife (owner of this beautiful lake home) she was hoping I still had the painting, because she recognized her house on my profile photo and wanted to surprise her husband for Christmas with the painting. I told her yes! But I needed to finish it first!
After conversing with Devon, I found out some beautiful history about their home near Behms. The first part was built by John and Betty Puckett. It was originally built as an executive cottage in 1998. She and her husband added the gallery hallway, master suite and the 3 car garage and all of the decks. Originally, on the same piece of land (early 1900's) there was a small cottage owned by a man whose grandfather dug the lake and he (grandfather) somehow got the State to sell him the three lots that his little cottage sat upon. He also kept and maintained a beach on his property for the Behm's Landing kids to use and he would sit in his yard and lifeguard to make sure that no one drowned. Devon said "That is why we have a pretty firm sand bottom in front of the house. The house looked much different when we bought it."
I'm honored this painting will hang in their gallery and I'm looking forward to sitting on the deck sipping tea with Devon! Maybe even creating a new plein air painting with Devon (who is a painter herself!) and enjoying a new perspective of the Grand Lake!

Specially commission by Troy Perry as a surprise Christmas gift for his wife Deb. Inspired by a peaceful sunrise they experienced together while kayaking on the Grand Lake Saint Marys. Deb was filled with peace that evening as she faced yet another battle with cancer. As I created this painting I prayed my favorite verse for Deb because I wanted this painting to fill her with joy and peace. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Inspired by our visit to the Outer Banks. Every morning I set up my easel on the beach to paint en plein air, but this particular morning the wind and waves were so aggressive that I chose to capture the scene with video footage. I kept thinking about how Jesus commanded the wind and waves and since it was “His voice” that spoke them into existence at creation… they had to obey! When Jesus said “Quiet! Be still!” the wind died down and it was completely calm… The disciples asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!” Mark 4:35-41

I started this painting en plein air, over a year ago and I just finished it after this morning's inspirational sunrise!!! When I opened my blinds this morning ...I gasped in awe of God's amazing masterpiece! He was creating it right outside our windows! Thank you God that because of Jesus' redemptive work on the cross ....Your mercies are new every morning!!! This is the third painting I've done of the canal and I was amazed by my classmate Sam Bonifas who knew exactly where I was at when I painted this. It's kind of crazy because the canal basically runs north and south, but turns West for a short jaunt so it makes a beautiful place to watch the Sunrise and Sunset.

Symbolic of how life is a journey. Inspired by our recent trip to Kiev, Ukraine. And the new friends I made there. We shared our stories and found we have a lot in common. Compared to the expanse of eternity we are only “traveling through” this earth. We all have a desire for something permanent...we want to live forever! But it is only possible through our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. Because Jesus lives forever He has a permanent priesthood therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him because He always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:24-25
24 x 30 Acrylic on canvas. I was inspired to create this tiger painting after our visit to the Toledo zoo this summer. I felt so blessed because I captured some great video footage in just a few minutes with my iPhone! But I got stuck ...and put this painting away ...and moved on to other paintings... and completely forgot about my tiger! Yesterday I found this painting and fell in love with it! It's crazy how I can feel so uncertain about my paintings, but it really is a good thing that I put it away when I did! Because it kept me from over thinking & overworking it. Thank You Jesus for your continual unexpected blessings! Feeling BLESSED 😊

I started this painting over a year ago, after seeing the filly at a neighboring farm I had to stop to photograph it. They have six or eight beautiful horses and this was the curious one. But they wouldn’t come very close so I tested the “horse whisperer” on them and with my back facing them ...they all came closer...especially this little filly! she was very curious and I was able to get some great video footage of them to paint from. I had a lot of fun painting the gray coat on this horse because it reflected so much color!
16 x 20 acrylic on canvas. Inspired by a beautiful gray filly that I videotaped at a nearby farm two years ago. And my favorite farm that I can see from my studio window. I'm feeling greatly blessed because I have been struggling to focus...I have so many paintings that I've started but I keep loosing my inspiration to finish them. Thank you Jesus!... because every good thing comes from You!

16 x 20 acrylic on canvas. Inspired by my friend Stephanie's Rooster that I videotaped a couple years ago. She names her chickens and I think his name was "Puffy Cheeks". He was a really great rooster! I feel very blessed to have so many friends who raise chickens and have welcomed me to come over and photograph them. My husband walked into my studio this morning and tells me "He's Finished!" "Don't add anything!" Jay said "If you add anything, it will ruin it...it will take away from the completeness!" WOW! As I'm sitting here in my studio...on Good Friday…That reminds me of what Jesus did on the cross! God's Holiness demands judgment, every sinner deserves to die for their own sins. But out of God's great love He provided the full payment by dying for us. When Jesus said "It is finished!" It's because he paid the full amount that was owed for all of us sinners for all of time! If we try to add anything to what Jesus did...thinking we can earn our own righteousness, we've missed the point. The only way to be damned to hell by God is to reject His son Jesus as your savior. Jesus paid it all! Now anyone can receive God's forgiveness by agreeing that they deserved to be on the cross and thank Jesus that He died for you! Thank You Jesus!

8x10 acrylic on canvas. Just like all baby birds and human babies are completely dependent on someone to protect them and provide for all of their needs...I am completely dependent on God to protect me and provide for all of my needs. Even if we don't acknowledge God, Jesus is holding every person and everything in the universe together. He gives me my next breath of air and all abilities that I have. He breathes life into me. He took my sin on the cross and offers His righteousness as a gift. Again I am completely dependent on Jesus because I can't do anything to deserve His gift...all I can do is receive and depend on Him. And say thank you Jesus!

I started this canvas last winter...I work on multiple canvases at a time. This barn is just down the road from my studio and I’ve been imagining what it would look like with Cardinals perched out front. I’m excited to call it finished today! Sometimes it takes me a while to get back to a painting because I get distracted or maybe I’m just not ready for it yet. 8x10 Acrylic on canvas. I am so thankful that I get to watch the Blue Jays do their acrobatics on my Ukrainian sunflowers every morning outside my window! I'm definitely planting sunflowers there again next year!
This is a super special sunflower, because I grew them from 3 seeds that were given to me by my Ukrainian friend Dima Melnyk. My husband Jay and I visited Ukraine (2019) to help with a soccer camp sponsored by AIA Athletes in Action. (Through much prayer & therapy Inessa is regaining her abilities!)That spring I planted those 3 seeds and everyone of them came up!
Proceeds from this painting go to help this Ukrainian family as they help others find their hope in Jesus.

The story behind Barney and Blanchey
I stopped over to visit my friend Colleen who names all of her chickens after her relatives. She has some unique breeds. I kept following around this hen named “Barney“ because I thought her double laced feathers were gorgeous! Barney is a Barnevelder and was thought to be a rooster, but she turned out to be a really good mother hen that Colleen uses as a surrogate mama! A Barnevelder is a Dutch breed that resulted from crossbreeding Dutch chickens and various "Shanghai" birds imported from Asia to Europe in the later part of the nineteenth century.
I shot many photos to create this composition for my painting, because chickens are such busy little creatures! It’s hard to get them to pose in the same photo together! So I sketched Barney and Blanchey from several photos to come up with this composition for my painting. Colleen raised Blanchey from an egg. She said he is a mixed breed and his father was a Salmon Faverolle. Barney actually acted as Blanchey’s surrogate mother! Of course my friend had his gender confused too, because Blanchey was named after Colleen’s great grandmother, Blanchey, but he ended up being a rooster! She said he is a wonderful rooster and really protects his hens because there are a lot of hawks around her place.

Inspired by my Ukrainian sunflowers that I grew from the seeds I save every fall. My original seeds came from my Ukrainian friend Dima. These are super special Sunflowers because he mailed them to me in 2019 and when they originally arrived there were only a few seeds left in the damaged envelope. I've been saving the seeds every fall and planting them again each spring. I love seeing them in my favorite vase!

(Through much prayer & therapy Inessa is regaining her abilities!)That spring I planted those 3 seeds and everyone of them came up! We praise Jesus Christ for supporting us and giving us strength to get up and serve." All proceeds from this painting series go to help Dima & Inessa rebuild and prepare their home for their first child.
12 x 16 acrylic on canvas. God has truly blessed me to capture these amazing daffodils that I picked this morning! I love painting the things that delight me! I feel like a little kid that couldn't wait for this special day...when the daffodils bloom! Daffodils give me so much joy! And when I paint them I can make them bloom all year long! Spring is so symbolic of the new life that Jesus gives us when we trust in Him as our Savior! May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit!

“16 x 20 acrylic on canvas. I’m having so much fun with my poinsettias! I never want to throw them away after Christmas because I enjoy them so much! 12 x 12 Acrylic on canvas. Inspired by the Lilies I grow outside my studio. I cut them and bring them in to paint from life. I have an allergy to their pollen, but I love them so much I endure with the windows open until I complete my painting. It's worth it to me because then I can enjoy my flowers forever by painting them!
36 x 36 x 1.5" Deep gallery wrapped canvas.

This is no. 2 in my Poppy series.
I have been anticipating the blooming of the poppies this year. So I called Sandy, my master gardener friend a couple weeks ago to ask her if she would let me know when her poppies were blooming. With all the rain and storms this spring I had to be fast to get over there to photograph them before they were blown apart.
Luscious texture created with palette knifes and heavy paint application.
8x10. Acrylic on canvas.
It’s been so gloomy these past few days... Yesterday I was going through photos that I took last May. I found these treasured Irises that I grew in our backyard .... I remembered having so much fun as I plopped them in a canning jar and started doing a photo shoot... playing around with my irises bathed in sunlight. They were so fresh and beautiful! I praise God for His infinite wisdom in creating such beautiful flowers for us to enjoy! And I give Him praise for giving me the ability to paint them so they will live on to be enjoyed for many years!

Created en plein air with brush and palette knife on location at my mother-in-law's best friend, Anna's Truax's home place. Anna loved her flowers but she is with Jesus now! No one lives in the old farmhouse, but neighbors are keeping a close eye on the property. Every time I drive by, I slow down to admire her flowers and when the poppies are blooming I stop frequently to photograph them. One morning last spring I decided to set up my easel and paint them plein air. Suddenly I was interrupted by a truck you pulling in the driveway and a man who was not happy, and asked why I was trespassing. I quickly explained that I was just painting Anna's flowers and that my mother-in-law was her best friend. It was the son of the owners and the watchful neighbors called them to alert them that someone was on their property. He asked my name and he called the owners to tell them. Tempers cooled off when they realized I wasn't hurting anything and discovered that my husband graduated with the farmer’s wife. They were planning to mow down that Poppy patch, but the Farmer's wife and I arranged to dig up the poppies and we split them so we could each plant them at our own houses. I feel so blessed that I now have my own Poppypatch of Anna’s flowers growing outside my studio!

I found them growing wildly in a dirt pile left over from when my husband put drainage around our house last summer. A Cardinal or Bluejay must have lost the seed. I titled this rose “Fearless” because God's perfect love casts out all fear. God proved His love for us through Jesus’ sacrifice of Himself on the cross to redeem us. One of the things I love about spring is fresh cut flowers! And our new house has lots of daffodils and perennials for me to enjoy and paint! Daffodils are some of my favorites because there are so many beautiful varieties. I love when some of them are fully open and others are still budding. Sadly they only last a couple weeks, but I love that I can make them last a lifetime!

I love growing my own flowers and painting them from life! There Is something so life-giving about studying flowers and painting them. And there are so many beautiful varieties of daffodils that I don't have yet… so I often stop by a friend’s house or even a complete stranger to ask if I can pick some of their flowers.

10 x 10 x 1.5 deep gallery wrapped canvas. Yesterday I went out and picked a beautiful bouquet of my zinnias! I am so thankful that God gave us such a long autumn with so many beautiful colors to enjoy. This zinnia is the last of the season 🥲 since there was a heavy frost last night. I've enjoyed sharing many fresh bouquets with my mom who's in the nursing home. I wish they would last forever! So that's why I paint them. This gorgeous peachy-orange Zinnia was the star of the show!

#6 in my “Poppy Series”
I wanted to capture the feeling of movement as the sun radiates infinite shades of reds and oranges as the wind blows through the poppies. To create movement I use heavy paint in many layers of various shades and intensity of blues and greens with dramatic brushstrokes for the background. And using a palette knife and brush I layered heavy mixtures of cadmium red‘s and oranges with strategically placed highlights to give depth and movement to the Poppies
Private collection
8 x 10 acrylic on canvas. Created with a palette knife layering thick mixtures of paint to capture the depth of color within each of the poppy petals. For me poppies are symbolic of sacrificial love where Jesus sacrificed Himself. He gave up His life so that we could be set free from bondage to sin and the fear of death. All we need to do is admit we could never be good enough on our own, and receive His gift of forgiveness. Then He gives us His life. Eternal life that starts now and goes into eternity!

”Poppies” was specially commissioned by Terri Dalton after we met at Tipp City's Art Trunk Show October 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Terri fell in love with my style of painting and really liked “Poppies” #322, but she wanted a larger painting to fit in her space. She sent me photos and videos of her room so I could incorporate some of her colors including various shades of green and a lovely cream leather sofa.
This is a close up of this gorgeous painting! The full composition contains 5 huge poppies and multiple poppy buds, but I couldn't get a nice photo of the entire painting because it was such gloomy weather and my studio lighting isn't the best.
After the pandemic subsides I hope to visit Terri and capture a great photo of this grand “Poppies” painting.

Created with heavy application of paint using pallet knife and brush to capture the energy of this Eagle in flight.

Inspired by Ken Bigham's photography of two eagles inflight over Grand Lake on May 23, 2021. It looks like they are fighting, but I was reading that this is actually normal courtship behavior called the “cartwheel display.” Fully entangled, the two birds begin spinning to the earth and disengaging just before they crash. Another one of God's amazing designs!

Inspired by Grand Lake Eagles nest. I love the way God creates life and beauty with light. Inspired by a verse in John 8:12 where Jesus said, I am the light of the world, he who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Inspired by the battle between the “intruder eagle” and Big Bear Valley eagles “Shadow & Jackie”. They are very devoted to each other and to their eggs. You can see great footage on YouTube. And of course I used my imagination to fill in the gaps! Jackie was on the nest guarding their 2 non-viable eggs. The intruder comes to the “back door” and Jackie fiercely wing flaps him. He leaves but is persistent …returning twice more to be chased off by MOMMA! Then Shadow takes off in hot pursuit of the intruder! It was a fierce battle because Shadow came back with a wound to his right eye and blood on his head. But the intruder has not returned! Thankfully Shadow’s eye is healing nicely. I’m so impressed with the way God designed these to Eagles to stay committed to their calling as a couple and as parents!

I was hoping and praying that Shadow and Jackie could have another clutch in 2020, but sadly their eggs did not hatch. This painting is inspired by 4/29/19 video of Shadow feeding Simba and Cookie. You can watch the YouTube video at friendsofBigbearvalley.org I also used my artistic 👩🎨 license to add a beautiful sunrise over Big Bear Valley.

Inspired by Big Bear Valley eagles. I have been awe inspired by this mama Eagle’s commitment to her nest and eggs that did not hatch this year. These Eagles are such a reflection of Jesus commitment to us... they eventually had to give up on their eggs, but Jesus never gives up on us! He promises He will never leave us or forsake us.

Inspired by Shadow and Jackie’s eaglets hatched in 2019. You can see them on YouTube video if you look under Friendsofbigbearvalley.org. I sketch from these videos and put together my own composition. I love watching how the eagle parents work together as a team from brooding their eggs to caring for the eaglets. Both parents are highly involved in all aspects of caring for and protecting their young. The way God designed these eagles has God‘s fingerprints all over them as their creator!

Inspired by Big Bear Valley eagles, “Shadow & Jackie”. I started sketching them while watching the live cam at FriendsOfBigBearValley.org during spring of 2019. This is my 1st time painting eagles! I give God the glory because He has blessed me with the ability to capture them on canvas!

I baked this pie back in 2016 and it was such a work of art that I photographed it ...hoping to paint it someday! It was actually an apple pie back then, but I changed it to cherry. My favorite!

This is #2 in my series of “broom trees” inspired by the story in I Kings 19, where God lovingly and miraculously provides for all of Elijah‘s needs. Elijah is despairing of life so much that he wants to die, but God provides a juniper tree to lie down under and some much-needed sleep. Then an angel provides food and water for him twice and then Elijah went on the strength of that food for 40 days and 40 nights! I love the symbolism and the way we can experience God’s loving care and renewal as we trust in Jesus and “be still” in His presence!

The light shining through the tree symbolizes the light only God can provide. Jesus said “He is the light of the world” and when we follow Him, He will give us enough light to see the next step and we will never walk in darkness.
